BOOK #1: We Were Liars

I would be lying if I said this book was a total waste of time. At first, anyone might find it a hard read since the author wanted to portray the personality of Cadence. She preferred phrases and distorted timelines throughout the novel so you really have to be patient as they are all connected towards the end.

Don't worry, we don't welcome any spoilers here.

Taking place at their family's vacation home, Cadence, Johnny, Gat, and Mirren labelled themselves as "The Liars" (you'd find out soon enough why). By embarking on an unexpected journey none of them knew how to handle, each page is definitely a thrill as you catch your breath.

Circling the value of family, greed, self-acceptance, and deadly consequences, no wonder E. Lockhart's masterpiece won the Goodread's Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fiction.

We'd rate it a whopping 4/5 since it had us clenching our hearts and asking what the heck just happened when we've reached the end. The twisted journey was too real for us to fathom which explains why we had to double check and search Google if it was a true story. Trust us, we're not lying.

4/5
